The City of Toronto is the largest city in Canada with over 2.5 million
people with the Greater Toronto Area or GTA having 5,304,100 people. Toronto
is the provincial capital of Ontario, and is located on the northwestern
shore of Lake Ontario. It is about a 4 hour drive from Ottawa. The city
has a population of 2.48 million and its metro region, the Greater Toronto
Area, has a population of 5.8 million; Toronto is at the heart of the
Golden Horseshoe, a region in south-central Ontario with roughly 8 million
people . Residents of Toronto are called Torontonians.
