Each spring, Canada's Capital is made even more beautiful with
the blooms of millions of tulips, symbols of an enduring friendship
that began in the midst of war. The gift of tulips represents
the gratitude felt by the Dutch people for Canada's act of kindness
in offering shelter to their Princess in the Second World War
and for the role Canadians played in liberating their country.
