Ottawa Firefighters are dedicated to the safety of the citizens of their community. We as a Department are facing changes in these times of fiscal restraint, similar to those being faced by our neighbours and friends. Firefighters are notorious for being innovative and thinking on their feet. This administration has challenged your firefighters to deliver more fire safety information as well as delivering increased and improved services to the citizens of Ottawa at the same costs. The Ottawa Fire Department hopes to prevent loss of life and property by taking a pro-active approach to fire safety, by shifting our focus to the development of expanded Public Education programs. The Fire Department provides the following important services: 

• Oxygen equipment in all fire stations
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
• Neo-Natal Resuscitation
• Advanced First Aid
• Water Rescue 
• Extrication from vehicle accidents and other types of entrapment
• Hazardous Materials Response Team
• Specialized Rescue Training
• Comprint 1 equipment to aid hearing disabled callers
